Wildlife Without Borders

On 1 February 1997, Peace Parks Foundation was founded by HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, Nelson Mandela and Dr Anton Rupert of South Africa to facilitate the establishment of peace parks, or transfrontier conservation areas (TFCAs), in southern Africa.
Over 15 countries are now working together to remove border fences that have had a devastating effect on animal movement and population health. To date over a million square kilometers and more than 18 of these extraordinary areas exist in southern Africa, creating a network of unparalleled safari destinations for visitors to see animals unhindered and flourishing as they go about their business.
