Why Safari Matters

The pandemic of 2020 had a devastating effect not only on the whole travel industry but also highlighted the effects, both positive and negative, of tourism to Africa’s most vulnerable and precious wild places. Over-tourism before the pandemic put tremendous strain on limited and threatened wildlife areas as well as contributing to global climate change, while the lack of tourism during the pandemic directly affected the well-being of communities and conservation projects that rely on tourism to thrive and do their work.

OUR GOALS

As safari travel advisors we are very clear that our journeys must have as light a footprint as possible and always leave the places our guests visit better off than before they arrived. At the same time we are committed to ensuring our guests experience the best that Southern Africa has to offer and leave knowing they have made a significant difference to other people’s lives as well as to their own.

YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS WITHOURS

We now offer our guests opportunities to engage with select conservation and community projects, either directly or philanthropically, while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of each trip taken. We understand that air travel is unavoidable for our guests so we are committed to donating a proportion of Safari Matters’ profits to carbon offset and other climate change endeavors.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO A SUCCESSFUL, SUSTAINABLE FUTURE OF TRAVEL WITH ALL OF YOU.

SEE YOU IN THE BUSH!
